Recovery Park Farms

1.2 kW

Recovery Park Farms currently operates eight high tunnel fields . Each tunnel is ventilated by way of active and passive air movement, and is, therefore, outfitted with a single 150 watt panel which is used to charge a battery bank inside. A small inverter is used to connect thermostat-operated vents in each tunnel while a DC controller is used to operate two motors which are used to roll up the sides of the tunnel depending on interior temperatures. The solar is imperative not for its cost savings potential, but also because it provides for reliability. For instance, in the case of a brown/blackout where the farm could not use grid power to ventilate on hot days, crops could be severely damaged.
